Bonney Lake Spring Cleanup 2011: Fennel Creek Preservation Leader Marian Betzer Accepts Arbor Day Award

On Saturday, dozens took to the WSU Demonstration Forest for spring cleaning and Fennel Creek Preservation Group Facilitator Marian Betzer accepted the Arbor Day award.

Saturday morning's Spring Cleaning in the WSU Demonstration Forest began early beneath the shelter of a small awning, as Marian Betzer, Fennel Creek Preservation Group Facilitator, received the 2011 Robert Ceola Memorial Arbor Day Award.

Betzer has been working tirelessly on the Fennel Creek Preservation project for the past eight years.

“Fennel Creek is an eight-mile long watershed and is the largest in the mid-Puyallup River basin,” said Betzer. “It has a lot of ecosystems still intact and we need to work to preserve them. Currently, most people cannot access the beauty of Victor Fall and Fennel Creek and one day we hope to have a trail throughout this area that all can enjoy.” (See Bonney Lake’s Fennel Creek Train Plan Here)
