Relay for Life Appoints Honorary Chair

Steve Zamberlin, director of human resources for Sumner, has been named 2011 Relay for Life Honorary Chair.

Two years ago, the Sumner/Bonney Lake Relay for Life Planning Committee decided that, due to the astonishing number of helpful community members, they should find a way to recognize the standouts for their support. This began the tradition of choosing an honorary chair. This year, that chair is Steve Zamberlin.

Zamberlin works as director of Human Resources for the City of Sumner. He is also the Logistics chairperson of the RFL planning committee and a “Relay lifer.”

“This is our 13th year doing Relay for Life in Sumner and Steve has been doing logistics every year,” said Sumner/Bonney Lake RFL Chair Katrina Minton. “His commitment to Relay and the fight against cancer has been immeasurable.”

“I believe anyone who comes down and walks during the luminary ceremony will become Relay lifers," said Zamberlin.

The announcement was made at the meeting on Wednesday, July 20 at Branks BBQ.

Zamberlin joins the likes of Pam Borg-Jensen and Sumner City Councilmember Leroy Goff, who were chosen as the honorary chairs in 2009 and 2010 respectively.
