According to Linda Tilman, Sumner City Cemetery is owned and maintained by the City of Sumner. Its grounds are peaceful and serene and visitors are welcomed by the site of a war memorial which proudly displays an American flag flying high at the entrance. The original cemetery is across the street from Sumner City Cemetery and was founded in 1846. The new addition was founded in 1947. At the cemetery office, visitors can also find samples of tombstones or burial plaques available for sale.
