The dark choc-dipped marsh w/caramel! (Ciarri Jeanne's confections in Downtown Sumner also carriesRead More them)

Has anyone heard when they will be opening?

We just got introduced to elements in puyallup and love it so glad to have a fro yo shop so close toRead More home. We have really missed the custard place
Christina April 5, 2013 at 05:23 pm
I am an Elements addict - love love LOVE fro-yo with fresh fruit! I wasn't into the custard at all,Read More I think I stopped there ONCE to try it and it just didn't appeal to me. With all the fro-yo craze going on right now - I am sure Menchie's will start off with a bang and it will be no time before more will learn to love the yummy creaminess, not to mention the fun of topping it all of however you like!!! Can't wait for the doors to open!

The hours and pay are minimal at best. You only get to work if there is a shortage of regularRead More workers higher up the food chain. Or if a miracle happens and you get promoted. I know a guy that got on down there and he was lucky to work 10 hours a week.

We are VERY thankful for Vadis and the businesses that support their clients: Businesses such asRead More Marshalls, for providing these opportunities in the community. Christy is 32 years old and her move into community life was difficult for her to adjust to. We were afraid she would end up sitting in a corner and not getting proper services she needed outside of the Morgan Center, where she resided for many years. Vadis provides the support Christy needs to be successful. She is so much happier in her new home & looks forward to going to work. Her exposure in the community is helping her grow in soooo many ways that were not previously available to her. Her family has had to learn more/new signs everyday to keep up with her growth. To all of the staff at Vadis, her co-workers, managers & bosses at Marshalls: Thank you, Thank you for taking the chance with our daughter. It takes a village! The belief that you can make a difference is what has made this part of Christy's journey a successful one! She and others like her couldn’t do it without you. And most of all…. GREAT JOB CHRISTY! We are proud of you!

I've seen this restaurant a thousand times but have never stopped to eat there. I didn't know theyRead More had such high reviews. Thank you for your article, as a lover of Mexican cuisine, I will now visit this restaurant!

@Amber You make too much sense...

I wonder if the building could be used as the YMCA for Bonney Lake/Sumner? They would already haveRead More the land, structure, parking lot, and coffee bar set up. They could add the pool on to the back. Just a thought.

The kids at BLHS do all their practice on site at school, but it does lead to some good stuff.. oneRead More student told me he works at a Bonney Lake restaurant now and he thanks that to his experience in the culinary program. When I worked for Seattle's Capitol Hill Blog, I did a story on the culinary program at Seattle Central Community College. They have a working kitchen where you can actually buy lunch and pastries that students make during class. It all looked and tasted like five-star restaurant food. They even have a bread-making program. Who doesn't like freshly baked bread? It would be great to see something similar in Bonney Lake... I know I'd eat there!

Do they have a restaurant where they can learn to operate and run a business. I have been to someRead More college culinary art restaurant, the food was delicious and the income helped subsidize the course and it offered the customers and great meal at a good price.
Lauren Padgett (Editor) January 16, 2013 at 06:19 pm
Russell, Kahale and the whole BLHS team were awesome, and the food was SO delicious! I might have toRead More buy a ticket, and just enjoy the meal at the next Chef Dinner...

Thank you for that information, David. We hope to be in for a visit soon!

A new store opened up in the same location!! Gifts Unlimited is the name. They will offer a lot ofRead More the same stuff as the previous store. It will be operated by some of the same people who worked for Hallmark. Come out and support a new small business in Bonney Lake.

I like Kathleen's idea, maybe the Y could make use of the facility. What about a church.
Lauren Padgett (Editor) January 11, 2013 at 11:20 pm
That's a really great idea, Kathleen! That side of town could use a place to hang out. There isn'tRead More much over that way, unless you want to go to the Starbucks on Valley or to a restaurant.

I called Trader's Joes a few weeks ago on this idea of locating in Sumner and it was a largeRead More "no". They said it did not fit their plans. Another grocery store would not work because there is saturation of grocery stores now. A bowling alley is 5 minutes away at Daffodil Bowling in Puyallup....too much competition. My vote would be for the City and School District to partner on purchasing the location (or at least a City purchase) for a Community Center with a small theater that could be used for movie events OR rented for corporate uses. Rooms that could be multi-use and rented for meeting usage (the Library rooms are alwasy books). Then, I strongly suggest working with UW to have a satelitte space for classes...It's perfect as it is far to go to Tacoma or Seattle...Students and citizens could take extension classes, for example. If there is room, a pool or skating rink. Then (as a community center) plan a Farmer's Market in the parking lot on weekends. As a community center you could have yearly craft shows, rooms for classes on sewing/crafts. Etc, etc.
