Located in Daffodil Elementary's Portable 1, the Sumner Family Support Center is a place where families can drop in…More or come together as a group to receive support and information. The center offers numerous family services, including health and wellness support, and can offer referrals to local resources. The center's goal is to build stronger families that can in turn become better members of the community.
Programs and services available include parent support groups and classes, immunization programs, home visits, counseling screenings, sewing classes, Pee Wee Playtime and Hispanic services.
The Family Support Center works in conjunction with numerous local agencies, including Pierce County Public Health, Good Samaritan Behavioral Health Care and the City of Sumner.
Sumner's City Hall was originally built in 1935 and was expanded in 2001. The building houses most of Sumner's…More government offices, from Community Development to Finance and Public Works. The Sumner Police Department, Mayor's Office, City Council and Municipal Court are all located in this building. The City employs approximately 110 staff members and is dedicated to improving quality of life for Sumner residents.
City Council meets every first and third Monday of every month at 7pm. The council also holds Study Sessions with city staff every second and fourth Monday at 6:30pm. This is a less-formal meeting where they are briefed on new projects and review new policies.
Other government organizations, including the Finance Committee, Arts Commission, Public Works, Public Safety, Forestry and Parks, meet monthly at City Hall.
