Concordia Lutheran School of Bonney Lake (previously Our Redeemer Lutheran Preschool) enrolls children 3 to 5 years oldMore for pre-school through Concordia Lutheran School in Tacoma. The name change became effective in 2010. In the fall of 2010, the school plans on expanding the building to be able to house pre-school through fifth grade and will be putting in a playground. The curriculum is Lutheran based, but allows all to attend the Christian-based pre-school and kindergarten. The school currently offers full- and half-day kindergarten classes. Its motto is "sharing values, shaping lives."

As of 2008-2009, there were 8,297 students enrolled in the Sumner School District. There are 3,146 children in elementary school, 1,262 middle school students and 2,820 high school students. Students can also enroll in online high school through the school district.

The district's graduation rate is 81.1 percent, which is higher than the state's average of 77 percent, according to the Washington State  2008-2009 Report Card.

The Sumner School Board has five members, elected from five separate areas within the district to four-year terms. The board meets one Wednesday of every month.
