According to Linda Tilman, Sumner City Cemetery is owned and maintained by the City of Sumner.  Its grounds areMore peaceful and serene and visitors are welcomed by the site of a war memorial which proudly displays an American flag flying high at the entrance.  The original cemetery is across the street from Sumner City Cemetery and was founded in 1846.  The new addition was founded in 1947.  At the cemetery office, visitors can also find samples of tombstones or burial plaques available for sale.

Christ The King Lutheran Church is a predominately Spanish-speaking congregation and has been part of the SumnerMore community since 1965. It is home to the Sumner Cooperative Preschool and Shepard's Field, which is the Sumner community garden. Community members interested in gardening anything from flowers to vegetables can sign up for a plot at City Hall.
