Candace Brown, Neighbor

My love for the Pacific Northwest comes from having been born here into a family that came to Washington Territory a decade before statehood.  It's in my blood and a major part of who I am.

Having grown up on an island, I'm drawn to the waterfront any time of year and never want to be too far from the cry of a gull or the smell of marine air. Walking on the beach or through a forest renews my spirits. I love birds, animals, sunsets, and looking at the Olympics from high on a hill.

My insatiable curiosity about almost everything keeps me busy reading and learning, especially when it comes to local history.  I enjoy the arts. The need to be creative is at the core of almost everything I do. In addition to writing and playing music, I draw, knit, quilt, sew, garden, and love to surprise my neighbors with warm-from-the-oven buttermilk scones on Sunday mornings.

Life couldn't be better. With my husband and rescued greyhound, loving family, wonderful friends, and so many interesting things going on I  feel like the luckiest person on Earth, and I am grateful for all of it.
