Craig Reed, Neighbor

My name is Craig Reed and I have been born and raised in Seattle,WA. I am a homebrewer, and lover of local and national craft beers.  For attending beer events and social outings I tend to stick to the beer scene in both WA and OR, but I can’t turn down any craft brewery in the nation when it comes to enjoying a beer at home.

My love for beer started in college, when I came across this brewery in town called Iron Horse and a local wing place called Wing Central that has over 100 different beers in bottles.

Wing Central has this thing called “Beer 101″ where you get an official card, and to pass the course, you had to try all 101 different beers from the list. This is where my pallate really developed into a love for craft beer. There were porters, pales, hoppy IPA, dopplebocks, stouts and everything in between on the list.  The best part? They were all WA and OR beers! At the time I didn’t really understand the difference between the different styles of beers further than “I like this one” and “this one didn’t sit right”. In any event, a very awesome way to get inducted into the NW beer scene and expand my beer horizons.

I go to just about every major (and minor!) beer event in the Seattle area, and depending on when the event falls (hopefully the weekends!) I will shoot down I-5 to Portland to make sure I don’t miss out on anything great. I love to write about beer, whether it is a review of a beer I have never had, catch up on industry news, cover a beer event, or to just ramble on about random beer subjects. It’s fun. I enjoy it. And I guess that is all that really matters.
