Phone: 678-448-6599 Hometown: Columbia, SC Birthday: November 14th (yep, a Scorpio) Bio: Liz has loved news since her first job as a "paper girl" delivering newspapers (rain or shine) on her bicycle. Over the years she's grown into a creative and highly skilled broadcast media professional with more than 20 years of proven experience in news and music radio. She started out as a radio news reporter while studying at the University of South Carolina and completed her education with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Ohio State University. During her tenure at CNN Radio she worked as a newsroom producer and editor and had the opportunity to interview hundreds of newsmakers including (Congressman Barney Frank, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, Civil Rights Activist Jesse Jackson, Michigan State Governor Jennifer Granholm, Former DNC Chairman Howard Dean). During her music radio days she met and interviewed the likes of Bono and The Edge of U2, Sting, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, Chris Isaak, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Joan Jett and a few others. Liz is the recipient of the 2005 Peabody Award on her contribution for coverage of Hurricane Katrina and its Aftermath and the 2008 Peabody Award on her contribution for coverage of the 2008 Presidential Primary Campaigns and Debates.   Liz enjoys mountain biking, gardening, group fitness classes and strength training at the gym, as well as, volunteering at her church, listening to others, music and spending time with Frankie, her Siamese cat, family and friends. My Beliefs: At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know. Politics: How would you describe your political beliefs? I vote on the issues that are important to me and if the candidate represents those beliefs then they have my support and my vote!  I am a registered Republican, but I have voted on many liberal issues.  Does that label me a moderate Republican? Religion: How religious would you consider yourself? I believe in God the Father, The Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ.  I'm extremely spiritual and choose to walk in Faith everyday.  I was confirmed as an Episcopalian more than 20 years ago at St. Luke's on Hilton Head Island.  Today I am a member of Mountain Lake Church and volunteer on the production team. Local Hot-Button Issues: What do you think are the most important issues facing the community? The economy, education, infrastructure, traffic flow on Georgia 400 and the need for a new facility to house the animals that are taken to the Forsyth County Animal Shelter (which is a kill shelter).
